Kids love playing with mud! So 5 Little Pigs is particulary appealing as it paints such a wonderful picture of the 5 little piggys joyously rolling in the squishy squashy mud!
5 Little Pigs : Counting Song and Farm Song
5 little pi – ggys rolled in the mud, (hold up 5 fingers )
Squi-shy, squa-shy it felt good (roll hands around each other)
The farmer took one pi-ggy out, (wave one thumb over your shoulder)
Oink, oink, oink! that piggy did shout! (open and close fingers and thumbs on oinks)
*
(repeat the verse counting down from 4 – 1)
*
No little pi-ggys rolled in the mud, (hold out hands to gesture none)
They all looked so clean and good, (frame face with hands and smile virtuously)
The farmer turned his back and then, (wag finger in warning)
Those pi -ggys rolled in the mud again! (wave arms around madly!!)
(sung to the same tune as Five Little Ducks)
It’s easy to pick up too, as it borrows it’s tune from ‘Five Little Ducks’ and the simple actions help little ones to join in even if they can’t quite manage all the words yet.
As the weather warms up in the spring, there is nothing nicer than getting outside and enjoying the delightful novelty of some messy play in the garden. 5 Little Pigs is just the thing to sing while making some lovely mud pies, which also brings to mind the old Flanders & Swann classic ‘Mud, Mud Glorious Mud!” Have a listen to the clip below for another song in celebration of wonderful glories of mud!
