(sung to the tune of London Bridge is Falling Down – print My Christmas Tree Sheet Music)
This song is very easy to pick up, as it borrows it’s tune from London Bridge is Falling Down. It has easy words with a lot of repetition, which are just perfect for toddlers. Small children love repetition, and while providing invaluable practice for speech development, it also builds a firm foundation for early literacy and numeracy skills, with rhythm, rhyme and patterns and sequences.
A lovely idea for an Advent craft, is to make a felt board Christmas tree, which kids can decorate over and over while singing the song. They are very simple to make; all you need is a cork board, spray adhesive, assorted felt and some added sparkles. While excellent for practising fine motor skills, they provide hours of absorbing fun too!
