Nothing could be more delightful than a little group of toddlers singing the Hop Little Bunnies Action Song! They all love pretending to be asleep on the floor and then springing up awake again and hopping round the room!
Hop Little Bunnies Action Song
See the little bunnies,
Sleeping til it’s noon,
Shall we wake them with a merry tune,
Oh so still, are they ill?
Wake up soon!

Hop little bunnies, hop, hop hop
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop hop
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop hop
Hop, hop, hop, hop hop!

Skip little bunnies, skip, skip skip
Skip little bunnies, skip, skip skip
Skip little bunnies, skip, skip skip
Skip, skip, skip, skip skip!
- The catchy little tune is loosely inspired by ‘I Had A Little Nut Tree’ but this video demonstrates it perfectly and even very little ones can pick it up easily.
- At the beginning of the song, everyone lies down on the floor pretending to be asleep, which normally results in a room full of toddlers kneeling down in a sort of ‘child pose’ with heads down and bottoms up in the air!
- Then on ‘Wake Up Soon!’ they all spring up and start hopping about like little bunnies.
- The verse is then repeated and the second time they can skip, or jump according to energy and attention levels in the room!
- If you have a little bunny enthusiast, this Hop Little Bunnies book would be sure to go down well!
Children gain so much from singing songs with actions and movement. Here’s a list of suggestions for more verses which call for the appropriate sound effects and actions ๐
Snap little crocodile , snap, snap, snap!
Quack little duckling , quack, quack, quack!
Flap little birdies, flap, flap, flap!
Miaow little kittens, miaow, miaow, miaow!
Woof little puppies, woof, woof, woof!
