Here’s a sunny, happy summer song to sing at the end of term, or before you go on holiday with the family. Sing a Song of Sunshine is so full of the promise and excitement that the holidays bring.Who doesn’t love playing on the beach and eating ice creams by the sea?
From picnics in the country to swimming in the sea, it reminds us of all the treats we have in store!
Sing a song of sunshine,
Summer’s here at last!
Flowers in the garden,
Tell us Spring is past,
Picnics in the country,
Swimming in the sea,
Holidays are happy days,
So sing this song with me!
(sing to the tune of Sing A song of Sixpence and print of the sheet music here – Sing a Song Of Sixpence
This song doesn’t have any special actions or a particular game, but kids do love it because it’s easy to pick up and all about their favourite summer treats!
For an accompanying activity, it would be great to do some outside painting and drawings of the seaside and the country as described in the song.
