Leprechaun Songs for St Patrick’s Day

March 13, 2020 By Sara Mullett 13 Comments

St Patrick’s Day heralds the arrival of spring – everything about it is so optimistic with colourful rainbows, pots of gold, mischievous fairies and a lot of emerald green!  Here are two little Leprechaun Songs – perfect for celebrating St Patrick’s Day with kids.

Action Leprechaun Songs for Kids on St Patrick's Day

The Magic Leprechaun Song

Who’s the little man in the su-it of green?

A funny little man that I’ve just seen,

Who’s the little man in a su-it of green?

A magic little leprechaun!

*

Where does the leprechaun go?

With a skip and a hop and a he–igh ho!

Where does the leprechaun go?

To the e-nd of the ra-inbow!

*

Where does he ke-ep all his gold?

In a pot, so I’ve been told,

Where does he ke-ep all his gold?

At the e-nd of the ra-inbow!

*

The Little Leprechaun Song

There was a little leprechaun,

In a big top hat,

They say that he was magic,

Well goodness fancy that!

He like collecting coins of gold,

And kept them in a pot,

And hid them far away,

So that he could keep the lot!

*

That naughty little leprechaun,

Would always run away,

You couldn’t try to catch him,

He really wouldn’t stay,

So if you see a leprechaun,

Running down the hill,

You must always try to catch him,

And of course, I know that you will!

(sing to the same tune as 5 Shiny Conkers)

There are lots of lovely kids crafts for St Patrick’s Day, do check out our pinterest board, which has lots of inspiration for kids activities of all ages. But to really capture the essence of the holiday the best way to celebrate this Irish tradition is to get jigging to some celtic music ceilidh style! Make a space, get some friends over and start dancing!
