This fun Baby Dinos Counting song is a great one for all the budding little paleantologists out there! The catchy tune is so quick to pick up and remember and it’s good counting practice too! So it’s always a hit because everyone always loves dinosaurs!
Five baby dinos learning how to roar.
One lost his voice and then there were four! (hand over mouth)
Four baby dinos munching on a tree.
One got a tummy ache then there were three! (clutch tummy)
Three baby dinos wondered what to do.
One went to sleep and then there were two! (close eyes and rest head on hands)
Two baby dinos playing in the sun.
One went home and then there was one! (shrug & dash off back to seat)
The last baby dino standing on tip-toe,
Then he lost his balance and then there was ZERO! (stretch up on toes and then pretend to fall over)
(This song borrows it’s tune from 4 Currant Buns In A Bakers Shop)
How To Play
Print the 5 Baby Dinos Sheet Music here, then you can use some small toy dinosaurs to sing the song which helps with the counting. Line them up on a table or chair and as you count down, make one dinosaur hop on to each child’s lap.
Older children love identifying the different types by name, I’m always amazed by their detailed knowledge.
Of course, kids also love pretending to be the baby dinosaurs themselves. Choose 5 children to stand in front and mime the actions as each baby dino is eliminated and they hop, stamp, or jump back to their place.
