One small child, an umbrella, some wellies, a raincoat and don’t forget a cute little dog, all go out for a walk on a wet and rainy day.
Raindrop Plop! by Wendy Cheyette Lewison takes all these elements and turns them into a catchy little chant that gets everyone joining in. Starting off with just one little raindrop and a dark, dark, sky and counting all the way up to ten along the way. Until the rain gets too heavy and the little girl runs home for a nice warm bath and a hot chocolate!
A delightful way to discover all the unexpected pleasures a child can explore on a rainy day.
Raindrop Plop!
One little raindrop, dark, dark sky.
Two little raindrops, clouds go by.
Three little raindrops, splat! splat! splat!
Four Little raindrops, boots and hat.
Five little raindrops, shiny red coat.
Six little raindrops, bright blue boat.
Seven little raindrops plop in a cup.
Eight little raindrops, umbrella up!
Nine little raindrops, puddle fun!
Ten little raindrops, still no sun.
Too many raindrops, run! run! run!
Too many raindrops, run! run! run!
This chant fits very nicely to the old familiar folk tune ‘Chicken On A Fence Post’. Just sing four lines of the chant to each verse of the song.
You can check on the melody in the youtube clip below.
