Ahoy there me hearties!
I’ve been noticing that people often search for Pirate themed activities on the blog, so this collection of Pirate Books & Rhymes for kids is sure to satisfy the adventurous cravings of all those little pirates out there!
We’re Going On A Treasure Hunt
The Pirate imaginative movement activity below will also go down well too. It is of course inspired and adapted from Michael Rosen’s classic book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
Read this pirate version of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – renamed to We’re Going on a Treasure Hunt – below adding in the appropriate actions. Children love improvising with these, so that the whole activity becomes imaginative movement with story telling.
We’re going on a treasure hunt, we’re going on a treasure hunt.
Going to find some gold. We’re not scared!
Oh no! A deep, dark lagoon!
We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it.
Oh no! We’ll have to wade through it.
Splish-splash, splish-splash, splish-splash.
We’re going on a treasure hunt, we’re going on a treasure hunt.
Going to find some gold! We’re not scared.
Oh no! Quick Sand. A deep, gluey quick sand!
We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it.
Oh no! We’ll have to go through it.
Squelch-squerch, squelch-squerch, squelch-squerch!
We’re going on a treasure hunt, we’re going on a treasure hunt.
Going to find some gold. We’re not scared!
Oh no! A cave! A big, dark cave!
We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it.
Oh no! We must go through it.
Tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe.
One wooden leg.
One shiny hook.
Black eye-patch.
Oh no! It’s a pirate!
Quick! Back through the cave – Tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe.
Back through the quick sand – Squelch-squerch, squelch-squerch, squelch-squerch!
Back through the lagoon – Splish- splash, splish-splash, splish-splash!
Get to the house.
Open the door.
Run up the stairs.
Oh no! Forgot to shut the door!
Back down the stairs.
Shut the door.
Back up the stairs.
Into bed.
Under the covers. (Sigh.)
We’re never going on a treasure hunt again.
