Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down is always a great favourite among our Autumn Songs. It’s easy because it’s sung to the tune of ‘London Bridge’, so it’s quick to pick up with it’s repetitive catchy refrain.
Kids love the lively actions of vigorously ‘pretend’ sweeping up all the fallen leaves.
Autumn leaves are falling down,
Falling down, falling down,
Autumn leaves are falling down,
On the ground.
*
Find a broom and start to sweep,
Start to sweep, start to sweep,
Find a broom and start to sweep,
Start to sweep.
*
And make them in a great big heap,
A great big heap, a great big heap,
And make them in a great big heap,
On the ground
*
But here comes the wind to blow them round,
Blow them round, blow them round,
Here comes the wind to blow them round,
On the ground.
(repeat as many times as you like!)
This song is great to sing outside when you are actually tidying the garden, it is a good way to involve children and have some fun together while doing some chores. All you need is a broom and lots of energy!
If you are inside, kids still love playing it with real leaves, just collect some nice ones when you are out for a walk, and bring them home. As long as they aren’t muddy, you can throw them all over the place, and then get the kids to tidy them up!
Great song!
I love this song! Thank you for sharing this great Fall song. I can’t wait to try it with my 4 two year-olds (who are soon to be 3 years old). I pinned it!
I taught the children this at school this week. Then I gave them chance to write their own verses. I was really impressed they were able to do it so well! Thanks for the inspiration.
I love this! I will be using this today in my lessons with my kiddos. Thank you for linking up this week to the Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop ๐
